Group Learning Programs
"Everything worthwhile is done with other people."- Mariame Kaba, Organizer & Prison Abolitionist
Individual learning can only take one so far in their anti-racist journey. Cohort learning takes the abstract to application and helps participants grow personally and professionally together.
I host a number of group learning programs alongside my dear friend and colleague, Emerald Anderson-Ford of Communities Reaching for Equity and Diversity (CRED).
May - June 2024: Anti-Racist Book Club
We use imagination to explore possible futures and to examine ourselves in a new light. Participants will explore themes of humanity, marginality, and evolution using the lens of science fiction with an eye towards applying these learnings to real life.
What book will we be reading?
We will be reading On the Origin of Species and Other Stories by Bo-Young Kim.
Make sure to borrow the book from your local library or purchase a copy.
We love to support Bookshop.org because the company supports small, independent bookstores and is a certified B Corp (the highest rating possible for companies when it comes to sustainability and social responsibility). You can use this link to purchase.

The Learning Circle
The Learning Circle is a community of practice (CoP) or cohort learning opportunity. A CoP is a group of people who share a common concern, a set of problems, or an interest in a topic and who come together to fulfill both individual and group goals.
CoPs often focus on sharing best practices and creating new knowledge to advance a domain of professional practice. Interaction on an ongoing basis is an important part of this. Many CoPs rely on face-to-face meetings and web-based collaborative environments to communicate, connect, and conduct community activities.
Who this Community of Practice is for:
This experience is for any group of people trying to build their muscles around thinking, talking, and actively integrating principles of justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility into their day-to-day lives and work.
We recommend groups of 10-30 individuals, all of whom are working closely together within an organization, specific sector, or within an established network.
